Namibians wait for their Mboma to explode in Tokyo

The Namibian nation is waiting with bated breath and crossed fingers for Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi to make history with a sterling performance in the final of the 200 metres this afternoon at the Tokyo Olympics.

The head of state President Hage Geingob who celebrates his 80^th birthday today tweeted last night saying:

“Christine and Beatrice, your brilliant performances in the women 200M semifinals today are moments of exceptional pride for Namibians. Congratulations to you, our girls. I am confident that medals are within reach in the finals. We are rallying behind you. Let’s go get them!”

Mboma came second in the 200m semifinals clocking 21,97 seconds behind Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson. Beatrice Masilingi also came second in her semi-final heat in a new personal best time of 22,40. The women’s 200m final is scheduled for 3 August at 14:50.
